Greg has been working north of Denver, Co since January. We finally joined him in March, 2010. We're in temporary housing in Broomfield and are really happy to be out here. What a beautiful state.

Listening to the Symphony at the Park

The conductor was so fun and explained all of the songs and we ended up singing with them at the end, "Pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, meatballs too."  The theme for the night was Italian if you hadn't guessed already and if you've ever seen Veggie Tales (High Silk Hat) then you've heard the Italian Fiesta song that I'm referring to.

Greer's Birthday Party

Greer turned 2 on June 24th.  Weston helped us find a Dora cake pattern.  Greer has never actually watched Dora The Explorer but is enamored with her.  She was very happy with the cake.  Grandma and Grandpa Jorgensen came down for the b-day celebration, we were really happy to have them here.  After her b-day dinner we went to see the Charlotte Symphony at a local park, more fun.

Weston's TK Graduation

Weston had a great graduation ceremony from his TK (Transitional Kindergarten) class.

Andrew placed 2nd after much blowing and  some (ahem) slight pushing ;).

She did it again today! Totally on her own without any prompting at all she went #2 as well as #1 all day with only 1 accident and all this included running errands and being at the pool (she won't go in the pool either).

I just read an article on a 2 yr old girl in England with an IQ of 160, I don't think Greer has anything on her ;).

Surely this is all pay off for not having slept in the past 2 years!

Potty Learning

Greer has decided that it's time to use the potty.  The last 3 days she's been using the potty for #1s with a few accidents but even when she has a diaper on she doesn't want to pee in it.  However, this a.m. as I was still sleeping (she's our early, early bird) she got up and said she wanted to use the potty.  I took her diaper off, still lying down in bed and told her to go ahead.  Oh b/c not only does she go but she also empties out her potty seat into the toilet by herself (self taught as well).  She came back asking for a bath.  I put her off for awhile then decided to get up and help her out.  She had gone #2 in her potty and attempted to wipe herself too.  It was a little messy to say the least but very impressive.  We'll see if that keeps up or not, cross our fingers.  To be out of diapers would be wonderful.  Needless to say I am totally sick of bodily fluids or solids!

Andrew's Baptism

Andrew's baptism was a really special day.  May 9th, 2009.  We had many special family and friends there, thanks to everyone who could make it and to those who weren't able to but were there in thought!

Thoughts on the U.S.

Usually my posts are dedicated to our family and updating everyone on the children's lives. However, recently I've become so concerned about what is going on in our country today. I recently attended a workshop lead by the National Center for Constitutional Studies about the U.S. Constitution. I wanted to add some quotes from a book that I am reading about our founding fathers and the principles on which they helped to create this great country on. I think they are really applicable to today.

Thomas Jefferson: "If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of hte people, under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."

"...we shall all consider ourselves unauthorized to saddle posterity with our debts and morally bound to pay them ourselves; and consequently within what may be deemed the period of a generation, or the life [expectancy] of the majority."

Samual Adams: "The Utopian schemes of leveling [redistribution of the wealth] and a community of goods [central ownership of the means of production and distribution], are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the Crown. Hogwarts School of Correspondence

I just found this link to the Hogwarts School of Correspondence where the kids can "take a few classes" by correspondence. It's a yahoo group that various people have put together different activities that the children can do. A lot of families do it over the summer. Looks really fun and interesting! The swim meet

It wasn't so much of a "meet" per say as just an opportunity for the kids to come and swim. Andrew's been doing some swimming through a local swim organization, twice a week. Hopefully this summer he'll actually do the swim team at the country club. He's really enjoying it and it's good exercise.
