Usually my posts are dedicated to our family and updating everyone on the children's lives. However, recently I've become so concerned about what is going on in our country today. I recently attended a workshop lead by the National Center for Constitutional Studies about the U.S. Constitution. I wanted to add some quotes from a book that I am reading about our founding fathers and the principles on which they helped to create this great country on. I think they are really applicable to today.
Thomas Jefferson: "If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of hte people, under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."
"...we shall all consider ourselves unauthorized to saddle posterity with our debts and morally bound to pay them ourselves; and consequently within what may be deemed the period of a generation, or the life [expectancy] of the majority."
Samual Adams: "The Utopian schemes of leveling [redistribution of the wealth] and a community of goods [central ownership of the means of production and distribution], are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the Crown. [These ideas] are arbitrary, despotic and, in our government, unconstitutional."
